ACT
X
ACT X is a modern day ministry to the "workplace"
(or what the Book of Acts calls the "marketplace")
based on a 1st century model - to live the Christian faith out
in the "marketplace" by applying Biblical principles
to our work ethic, our communications, our interpersonal interactions
and our attitudes so we can exemplify Matthew 5 and be salt
to the world and "shine" the living message of the
Gospel to bring glory to God. The foundational belief behind
the ACT
X ministry is that evangelism or "church growth"
occurs when we live the faith out in our everyday lives, i.e.
in the "marketplace" because non-believers don't typically
come to church on their own accord - they come to church when
their co-workers, who are believers - invite
them.
So the focus of
ACT X is to teach adults
to exemplify a Christian work ethic on the job, because as we
advance in our chosen fields because of our Christ-centered
work ethic, then others will take note and will want to learn
how we "succeed" on the job, which is by living our
faith and this is where we will win new believers for the Body
of Christ. Once this happens, then new believers will join the
local church, and it is the local church's role to disciple
those new believers who came to faith in the marketplace. This
is how the Bible records that church growth occurred in the
1st century, and because the Word of God is the same yesterday,
today and tomorrow, it is the hope and faith of those behind
the scenes in ACT
X that this is how church growth will continue
to occur in the 21st century.
Who is Behind the Scenes at ACT
X
?
The
ACT X team is supported financially by our
marketplace partners at
Aararat Consulting, is supported by
intercession via our prayer partners at
Prayer Canada and is
accountable to the church community and to the larger Body of Christ
via an Advisory Board of pastors, national ministry leaders
and marketplace leaders. The ACT X mission is to equip young
adults, and adults-young-at-heart, with Biblical training to impact their local church,
their community at large and the business world around them
- which is referred to as the marketplace in the
Book of Acts. The Bible teaches in Acts that this is how the
church grew - by Christians living and sharing their faith with
others in a caring sense of community - in homes, in churches
and in the marketplace.
"And the Lord added
to their number daily those who were being saved" (Acts
2:47 NIV).
ACT X functions to equip believers with training
in the word of God, in accordance with 2 Timothy 3:16.17 so
that they can be more effective for their employer on the job
and advance in their careers, and so that they can be a living
witness for the Gospel at work, and also to become more equipped
to carry out the mission of the Body of Christ in their local
church and their local community...
"All Scripture is God-breathed and
is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in
righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped
for every good work."

Timothy 3:16,17
